Thankful Thursday {November 2017}

Since we are in the month of Thanksgiving and I am still way behind on this blog, I thought another thankful post was in order.  We do have a lot to be thankful for.

1.  These four dinosaur loving cuties.

2. This little guy being in our family for over 11 months!  Yes, he is almost a whole year old, and I just can't believe it.

3.  Watching this art loving boy create a masterpiece.

4.  Great sermon messages at church.

5.  Lunch dates with my two littlest cuties.

6.  Coffee and good books.

7.  More good books to read from Scholastic.

8.  Great sports seasons for our big boys.  Eddie and Brody finished up their last soccer games of the season last week, and Evan just has to play in his league's championship football game tonight.  His team will either come in first or second for the season.  We are so happy he has had a great experience this season and really got a lot of playing time to advance his skills.

9.  A trip to Disney World!  Yep, we leave Sunday for the week since the boys are out of school all week.  We are doing this trip on a budget and staying offsite so we will see how that works out.  These two are pretty excited about meeting Mickey.

So if I don't get a chance to say it before next Thursday,

Grayson's 11th Month

Pumpkins and Halloween!  What a fun month for you!

Size:  We will not go back to the doctor until you are one year old.  Yikes, less than a month to go.  How did that happen?  We suspect you are over 20 lbs. now.  You have still been wearing size 3 diapers although you wet out of them a lot more now so we think it might be time to move up a size.  You wear mostly12 month clothes and can fill out some 18 month clothes too.

Developmental Accomplishments:  Crawling everywhere!  You have pulled up holding onto me and love climbing although you haven't started cruising yet.  This is a bigger house with more open spaces so you mostly crawl everywhere.  You  still love bath time with big brother Mattox and love splashing in the water.   You love banging toys together or clapping to make noise but are generally still a quiet boy while playing so I often have to come and find you when I can't hear you.    You are babbling more but still mostly say "mamamamama"  a lot.  You got another tooth on the top right for a total of five teeth.  The separation anxiety and stranger anxiety has decreased a little as you have started going to church nursery with Mattox on Wednesday nights.  You like the teacher and like crawling around and exploring.  You don't mind playing alone in a room as much now and don't cry as much when I need to leave the room.  Mattox is really loving you more now although he does get a little rough sometimes and has tried to run you over with his car or sit on you.  Ha!  But he really does love you.  You also love cords and my computer which makes it really difficult to get any work done.  You are just a sweet little mess!
Sleeping:  You have been sleeping in your crib in your room, but you do sometimes wake up for more milk or because you are really wet.  When you do finally go down for the night, you often wet out of your diaper because you like to turn yourself onto your tummy to sleep.

Eating:  You have still been doing well eating, and we are still chugging away at breast feeding which I am thankful for.  You still refuse to take a bottle so you get about four to five breast feedings a day.   You still really love eating solids and have really been doing well with every food you have tried.  You still eat mostly mixed combination meals with a fruit and oatmeal or yogurt combination for breakfast, a vegetable and meat combination for lunch, and a meat and vegetable combination for dinner.  You have now tried avocados, peas, squash, apples, pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, peaches, green beans, broccoli, white potatoes, mangoes, butternut squash, and ground beef.   You like white potatoes mixed with a green vegetable like peas, green beans, or broccoli.  You eat a chicken puree mixed with an orange vegetable like sweet potatoes, butternut squash, or carrots. You have also had a little taste of ice cream and even your first Chick-fil-a kids' meal with some grilled nuggets cut up for you and apple sauce.  Your new favorite food this month was pasta.  You ate some of our pasta with meat sauce and loved it.  We use veggie pasta and just cut yours up really small.  You had no problems with the meat in the sauce.

Teeth:  You have five teeth with two on the bottom and three on the top.

Favorites:  Mommy; Cocoa (your dog); food; when Daddy gets home from work; playing with your big brothers; blocks to bang together; cars; cups or bowls that have food or drink in them that you try to grab; bath time and splashing in the water

Nicknames:  Grayson Payson (goes with Evan Pevin, Brody Pody, Mattox Pattox), Gray Pay, Gray Gray, Baby Goo (because he is just a little gooey sweet mess)

A Day in the Life

Yesterday, I participated in a little Instagram event to document a whole day in my life.  As it was a pretty regular day at home with the kids, I thought it was as good a day as any to document for posterity, and I thought it would be equally worthwhile to post it here.

The big boys are up early eating breakfast.  Bus arrives at 6:39 am.

7:30 a.m.:  This cutie joins me in my bed while I am waiting for coffee to brew.  The question is how long will he sleep.  And the answer...he just got up as I typed this.  Sigh.

7:50 a.m.:  Apparently, it is diaper change time after big brother went in and woke him up.  Sigh.  Not the morning I hoped for.  Still no coffee!

8:00 a.m.:  Setting out the toddler breakfast before I get to drink my coffee.  Bananas for the win!

8:15 a.m.:  Feeding the baby while feeding myself because I may not get to eat otherwise.  Yes, he has gotten spilled on occasionally because he likes to grab things.

Sometimes morning cartoons are the only way Mom gets anything done. Sesame Street still rocks!

8:30 a.m.:  And this is why reading is so difficult these days.  Trying to finish the last few pages of this book that needs to go back to the school library while drinking my lukewarm coffee.

Baby breakfast time (bananas and yogurt).  Someone is always eating in this house of all boys.

Toddler diaper change time.  Yep, it was poop.  Aren't you glad I saved you from the sights and smells of that one?  Nope, we aren't potty trained yet and probably won't even really try until after the busy holiday season.

10:30 a.m.:  I finally got my bed made!  To be honest this was kind of early because I was attempting to get us out of the house.  And now to start the day!

Wearing the mommy attire of comfortable athletic wear but we are out of the house and headed to library storytime.

Mattox made his cornucopia at library storytime.  He loves to use the glue stick.  We read books about Thanksgiving too.  We even read a Mickey Mouse book which is very appropriate since we will be celebrating with Mickey this year.  Yep, Disney World for Thanksgiving.  We must be crazy!

My favorite time of day...lunch time!  Today is actually a chilly day in South Georgia so some nice warm chili with my homemade cornbread I made for our lifegroup feast the previous night was just the ticket.  Even though I enjoyed my friend's homemade chili the previous night, my favorite vegetarian chili topped with cheese was also very yummy.

Grayson enjoyed his homemade mashed potatoes, peas, and chicken baby food.

The afternoon is free play time as shown by the mess in the living room.

The big boys are home from school, and they are already fighting.  Apparently, Brody dropped his book and made Evan go back and get it on their short walk from the bus stop.

A chilly day is perfect for snuggling on the couch with a cozy blanket.

This kid finally took a nap since he had been up since 7 a.m.  And since it rained, my oldest's football championship game was postponed until next week.  Sigh.  I was really looking forward to being finished with this football season.  I guess we now know the downside to being on a good team.  He has really had a fantastic season and made some awesome tackles as defensive cornerback which is a highly underrated position.  Looking forward to having an unexpected night in regardless.

Dinner at home for a change thanks to a rain cancelled football championship and my husband's cooking.  I wish there were veggies, but beggars can't be choosers.  We were out of potatoes, and my husband doesn't eat anything green so pork chops with mac and cheese was the menu.

Bathtime and cuddle time in Mommy's and Daddy's bed!  The best time of the day!

Last post of the day:  About to put the last two kids in their beds and call it a day.  I was going to try to read, but my eyelids are getting heavy.  Goodnight all!  I hope you enjoyed the glimpse into our ordinary everyday lives.
